Thanks for all the replies reference compressors.  I think for the time
being I'll get an oil free one, for two reasons.  First, it's cheaper
(and the Scout is sucking up money right now, faster than usual) and
two, I plan to be in a new house by next year, at which time I hope to
have room for a serious sized vertical oiled compressor in 220.  The
Scout is still living in my parent's barn and I need something I can
haul back and forth, and plug into 110.

Lowe's has a 5 HP/20 Gal oil free DeVilbiss with an accessory kit
(impact wrench, sprayer, hoses, etc) for $269.  It puts out 8.5 cfm,
which from what I can tell, should be good for my immediate needs.  Plus
if I get it in the next couple of days, Lowe's will give me 6 months
free interest.
