Improved Cooling V392 ID?
Reapers,
A local wrecking yard has a 392 long block I'm interested in. It's in a 72
1100 series pickup manufactured in May of 1972. When I looked at the line
setting ticket last year (now gone), I could have sworn it said it was
improved cooling.
Now I'm hearing on the Digest that the improved cooling engine made it
appearance in 1973!
The engine ID boss is marked V392E with a serial number of 1042181. The
cooling water pipes *appear* to be going into the block and not the heads, but
I could always be wrong.
With that information, can anyone tell me if this in fact is an IC engine or
not? What does the "E" mean in "V392E"?
Does $150.00 sound fair for basically a long block of unknown condition
missing the intake and exhaust manifolds? I would rebuild the engine of
course.
Thank you,
John L.
