'68 T/A ideas

Damn you! That was exactly the same idea I had about my
'68 4x4 auto T/A... The body's shot, but the chassis is fine.
I have plans for the dash, wiring harness, rear glass,
etc. but no need for any chassis parts.

I keep telling myself that there's somebody out there with
a solid but very basic T/A who would love to give me lots
of $$ so they can slip this chassis under it, but...

It would look great with a K/KB, or even better, a D cab on
it. I don't know how wide those medium duty trucks are, they
are probably narrow by today's standards and may look fine
on this chassis. That should be investigated because
it seems to me that the "real" pickups, like a KB-1, are
much less available and much more expensive
than say a KB-3.

Then I would just get a diamond-plate aluminum
flat bed made to whatever the correct
length turns out to be- a nice big headache bar too, of
course.

A steel one painted to match the cab with a full wood floor would also look good and be a lot cheaper.

You could fit big meats pretty easily then, I would think.

Now, the K series seems to me to be the only IH popular
with restorers before the age of SIMTA.. I wonder if there's
repro stuff available? If like, you could get repro fenders,
this thing would have such good approach/departure
angles and a nice compromise wheelbase that it would be
a shame not to give it a shot in the woods. But I wouldn't
want to smash up 50 yr old fenders.

Like I need another project. Sigh. I'd be smarter to just
give it away. (PS, I can't do that, I gave the wife the
usual "well, in the IH community this is worth blah, blah in
parts alone!!" so I'd better at least get what I paid for it).
