Glad to hear you made it out OK. Deer are relatively massive animals,
and can cause a great deal of damage.

One word comes to mind....BRUSHGUARD....The one on John Ekelmanns Scout in
the pictures on my web page has survived three deer hits and never did
anything to the truck except swing it around the side. I *think* the rear
quarter may have got bumped in one time.
I have seen some guys put spikes on there front bumper/brush/deer guards to
keep the deer from swinging either to the side of the vehicle or over the
top onto the windshield. It kinda makes a shiskabobbed deer when you hit
done.
Some of you have seen my Fleckerazation of a rear Bumper
brushguard/tire,gas carrier (pictures on my site). But wait till you see
what I am making for the front
