Michael,
   The loose belt thing wouldonly be a real problem if the belts squeled
while reving the engine. I think the problem with the lack of charge
unfortunantly is the alt is going bad. If you wanted to try and save a
few bucks, I'm sure Mr Landry could give you the numbers for a rebuild
kit and tell you how to do it yourself.
