ignition module, off-idle stumble, smog pump

Has anyone found the internal ignition module for '78 era
Scout II for any less than $178? That price is from
Checker, so I wonder if it can be found for less anywhere.
That's outrageous, but I want a spare. The doggone things
go out without warning.

Also, my Scout, '78, 345, 2V, CA emissions, has developed a
nasty stumble. The air pump went out last year so I cut the
belt. Could that affect the way the engine runs? Sometimes
it backfires through the carburetor when it stumbles, and
sometimes it just stumbles. ...cold or hot, but worse when
cold. I'll check the timing, but it was advanced about 10
degrees last time I checked. I know retarded timing can
cause the same behavior.

Also, is there a source for the CA smog pump? I think it
was federal emissions starting in '79, so a few Scouts
should have it.
