Why does the Ford rearend need replaced?  Is it the same gear ratio?  
Brakes work?

$300 will buy you (or less) a pair of 4" Skyjacker Softride *front* 
springs ($230 comes to mind).. $60 for proper length shocks, and you can 
do all of this w/o turning the knuckles, or a new driveshaft.

The Scout may still sit rear high.. if it's too rear-high, you could try 
2" longer shackles in the front, and some shims if necessary to fix the 
resultant negative caster up front.

Still won't be great, but it's a cheap start.

May want to think of removing a leaf from the rear spring pack to lower 
the rear, if it's still a problem after 4" springs under the front.
