     This summer I actually saw a military J**p owner modify the rig with a 
     drive shaft out the rear, through the pintle hitch to the trailer. He 
     coupled the drive shaft to the trailer rear axle and had lower gears 
     in the trailer dif, so that on the trail the J**p would drag the 
     trailer in most situations except downhill inclines, where the 
     trailer's lower gearing made a big difference in descents by dragging 
     against the truck. He also had installed Detroit lockers in ALL THREE 
     dif's. Obviously this was not an on-road configuration, but seemed to 
     be an interesting idea for offroad trailering.
