IH V-8 Oil Filters
A while back there was some discussion about oil filters for the IH V-8's.
I remembered reading some using standard Ford filters. (i.e. PH8A Fram) I
used to work at a NAPA store and knew we didn't sell standard Ford filters
for the IH V-8. It got me wondering so I obtained a NAPA (Wix) Filter spec.
book. The listed filter for the IH 266-304-345-392 is a NAPA 1452 (Wix
51452). The difference in this filter and the standard Ford (NAPA 1515, Wix
51515) is in the filter by-pass valve. A 1515 has an 8-11 lb. rating and a
1452 has a 12-15 lb. rating. I would wonder if the capacity of the IH pump
causes a bypass at times when it shouldn't with the 1515.
Thought I'd add that info so everyone would know.
Kurt.
