<GRIN>

I'm happy to report, we just dropped the 304 into it's new home..
tranny's bolted up, mounts are dropped in place..

Now to tighten the mounts, wire up the electricals (appears my '77s
previous owner modified the bulkhead connectors two center wires (2 &4),
so I have to do some splicing), put on my belts... then drop the radiator
in w/ the power steering cooler..

THEN, yank the driver's side exhaust from the '72, and stuff it in
place.. and I'm ready to drive to work tomorrow w/o a hood. :-)

:-( I stripped the top of one of my carb studs while putting the engine
lifting adapter on for the second time.. gonna pry it out, run on 3 studs
for tomorrow, and acquire another stud/bolt to put in it's place.

Almost there... LOONG weekend.. but if it hadn't been for that blasted
spring mount coming apart...

BTW, I'm now the proud owner of a Century 230amp AC stick welder.. this
could get dangerous. :-) Took all of Saturday night to get the frame
fixed and the mount back in place..

Sunday we got the 304 out, and the new oil seals and such in place...
2.5hrs to get the 196 out this morning.. that was through noon or so...
1pm we started again.. it's now 8, and we've drug the 196 around the side
of the garage and tarped it up, yanked what we wanted from it (AC
compressor, and I swapped the 5-blade fan vs. the 4blade on the 304)..
and dropped that 304 in it's home.

Fun fun fun.

Now to get 'er road worthy so I can drive to work in the morning..
because I still have rebuilt the carbs on the motorcycle to make *it* run
right...

Another hour or two, and I might be hearing a 304 w/o exhaust purring
outside.. too bad I can't drive to work like that.. (cold air on valves
are rumored to be a bad thing when you shut 'er down after getting it hot)

Back to the garage! Dinner's on the grille.. means I've gotta work fast.

-Tom (well, at least it's still partway light outside)

'72 and '77 Scout IIs

'77 has the heart of the '72... so at least I'm driving both Scouts now...
