Just what we need another common name in here!

        When do you head to Seattle?  Anyway, when I removed my headliner 3 
years ago, I remember that all that was holding up the boards were the 
fiberglass inserts, and the buttons in the middle.  The buttons that run the 
length of the top are little steel expando jobs, that can be popped out with a 
diagonal cutters, PULLING, not cutting.  You can probably get a needlenose under
them too!  Remember to take out and unclip the dome light, and in '79 the wiring
is different that in my '76 which has the switch in the back.  The headliner 
tucks under the windshield frame in front and once you take the back part off 
(If I remember correctly) the whole piece slides out the back of the truck.  
Have someone inside under the healiner so it doesn't drop in and break, they are
really fragile!  So the order (I THINK) should be remove side panels, then 
remove the dome light, then remove the buttons up the center, then remove the 
back cross panel, and remove headliner.

Subject: Head Liner
     Hi all,
     
     I've been out for a week due to some arthroscopic knee surgery and 
     have a few digests to catch up on!!
     
     The '79 Scout II is starting to come along nicely and hopefully (I 
     mean a miracle here) it'll be painted this weekend.  We're going to 
     take out the head liner and interior side panel so they do not succumb 
     to overspray.  Does anyone have any suggestions or hints on how to do 
     this?  It doesn't seem that hard for the side panels but the headliner 
     looks a little tricky with the blind "pins" that run down the center. 
     Any help, as usual, is always appreciated.
