Mike,

Ping????   Are you sure it's not a chirp.  if yours has air injection, or 
if the holes are not correctly plugged (mine were *not* correctly plugged 
from the factory) you get a chirp that I thought was pinging.  Now that I 
have cured the chirp and have heard a ping I can tell them apart, but 
that's just 20:20 hindsight.
