CB antenna mounting

Mike,
I'm no expert, but... Been researching this same thing. (Traveler
w/fiberglass top.)
According to the Firestick site, they make a no-groud-plane attenna for 
18-wheelers with cabs that are made of non-metal.  They are $35, plus
special no-ground coaxial cable.  Plus the antenna looks neat.
My current choice.
OR..
Mount it with a bracket that fits on the hood lip.  You get some "spread"
from the flat metal hood. My original idea.
Firestick or an equivalent no-ground-plane sounds like the way to go.
Remeber, you do need special coax, though.
