Choosing the Right Mufflers

Hi,
I have a quick question regarding mufflers.  Tomorrow morning I'm
getting a new dual exhaust with an "H" pipe put on my Scout and I'm
wondering what size mufflers would give me the most torque and retain a
nice throaty growl.  I'm going to go with a turbo style muffler as
opposed to a straight through glasspack.  I really like the way
glasspacks sound, but I personally don't believe they produce as much
power as a turbo.  Do smaller mufflers make more torque than large ones
or visa versa?  I'm thinking of going with 21/4" pipe or even 2" pipe as
opposed to 21/2" pipe.  Is this a smart thing to do if I'm looking to
gain some torque?
