Brendan: Not stock, but commonly done. I'm not too sure about your exhaust guy though if he thought this was strange. They are usually the ones that recommend it to save a few bucks. It saves them from having to fabricate pipes that go over and around the rear axle and the gas tank and all of that. Tom H.
