What's so special about buying a set of longer shackles?

I was just thinking I should go drop by my favorite metal fabrication 
shop, and ask 'em to cut some flat stock to length, and drill the 7/16" 
holes (no drill press at home.. yet) and make a set lickety-split.

Do I really want an "H" style?

Just looking to try and level out the 4" Softride kit on my '77..
