Or you could put in a GM 6.2L diesel.  Performance is _much_ better than
the 196 I took out, and driving it I get the feeling it just can't wait
to climb something.  I'm sure it's less performance than an IH gas V8,
but I can't compare it because I've never driven one.  I don't know fuel
mileage yet (no speedo cable yet), but based on figures I've seen for
this engine in full size pickups & Suburbans, it should be about the
same as I've heard for the little Nissan diesel. 

Of course, the GM engine would require either an expensive adapter, or a
change of trans & transfer case also.
