Springs for 1970 Scout

If you don't have a good junkyard nearby, most body shops can find a set through
their junkyard connections. When I broke one of mine, I paid the local shop $30
or $35 to find a replacement. Jeep CJ springs of about the same vintage may
also fit. If all else fails, Super Scout Specialists usually has some.

Two words to the wise: First, since you will be buying a 27-year old springs,
the rubber bushings in the spring eyes will probably be shot. So, plan on
replacing those at the same time (SSS has them, too). Second, I believe that
there are two kinds of springs, regular and heavy duty. The difference is in
the size of the spring eye. Because I couldn't find a HD spring to match, my
Scout has 3 springs with large (about 1") eyes and 1 with small (about 1/2")
eyes. I took a lot of effort to machine the large bushings to fit the small
eyes.

Good luck!
