Chris,

I'd recommend the MSD 6A computer because it's the lowest cost model
featuring what they call "capacitive discharge." As it was explained to me
by an MSD technician, capacitive discharge means the unit delivers a full
voltage spark for each one of the multi-spark firing cycles. The lower
cost "inductive discharge" models deliver an initial full voltage spark
with subsequent firings of the multi-spark cycle decreasing in intensity...
although even the inductive discharge models are better than the stock
ignition system if you can't afford the model 6A.

Models beyond the model 6A will essentially have the same spark
characteristics, but they offer additional features such as rev-limiters,
severe vibration resistance, etc. and they increase in price as a result.

To get the most benefit from a new ignition computer, you should really
consider installing a high voltage coil (such as the MSD Blaster III) and
also a set of high quality 8mm spark plug wire sets designed to handle the
higher voltages involved (such as the MSD Heli-Core wires). With the
increased spark intensity available with MSD system installed, you can
increase the spark plug gap substantially. As MSD cautions, this requires
that the secondary ignition components (plug wires, rotor, distributor cap)
be in top condition to handle the load. There is a dizzying array of good
manufactures who make high quality plug wires, coils and ignition systems.

Have fun,

John
