Procrastination
Well, I finally got the heads off, and yes, there is a ring around the
top of each cylinder of carbon buildup, though it does not seem too
terribly excessive to me (the completely ignorant of an engine's
interior). What's even worse is that at no time when I was
disassembling it could I tell where the rope that I had fed into it had
gotten hanged up, leading me to this procedure. As I have been
performing all of this work on the street in front of my house, I am
going to brush down the carbon, clean the parts, and put it back
together as quickly as possible so my landlords don't kill me. I rent a
rear cottage in a pretty nice neighborhood, and the neighbors already
hate me because I have two old cars trashing up their neighborhood. I
must admit that my Scout is not pretty, but my old Dodge is pretty sweet
and classy. Once I got a sticker on my Scout's windshield from the
local police concerning the local ordinance that a car must be driven at
least one mile every three days or it is considered abandoned.
Therefore, as I've been gradually doing this work, I've been pushing my
Scout to different spots on the street every couple of days to make
everyone think it's still running. And whenever anyone comes close, I
close the hood and act like I'm going inside for something. This may
help explain why it is taking me so long to get all of this done.
Anyway, I just wanted to thank all of you that have been giving me
pointers along the way, and let you know of my progress. If I put it
back together and still have problems, I'll probably be willing to sell
it cheap to someone that knows enough about it to get it working. Then
I can begin to work more on my T'all and look for another Scout in
better shape! However, it ain't over yet! I'll let you know how it
goes. Thanks for letting me stall for a few minutes before I go back to
work!
Michael
