Bob,
One trick is to rotate the engine till valves are closed, then put
compress air in through the spark plug hole and see where it comes out
(sump, exhaust, carb).  Blow nozzle with a rubber tip works pretty good,
but you can make an adapter by breaking the ceramic out of a sparkplug
and brazing on a pipe fitting.  You can also use an adapter from some
compression testers.
