Much better aim when you relax and *calmly* squeeze, vs. the knee-jerk
reaction of just yankin' on that trigger.
I had a lot of success driving my '77 around in Seattle.. as Dan (and John
L.) can confirm, it was a fearsome sight, even being stock height. The
ugly flaking grey paint job, the various dents, just a touch of rust, the
Montana plates readin "I8A4D", the bumper thumper w/ the daylighters (very
effective against hi-beam morons), loads of travel gear inside, and.. let's
not forget, missing 3 bolts on the throttle body thus BACKFIRING like a
gunshot every time I backed off the throttle.
Now *that* makes for a nice, wide berth around me. It would have been a
little better if I'd had a few shotguns n' rifles in a gun rack on the side
windows, but.. all in all, just being there was enough of a deterrent to others.
:-)
I'm kinda reminded of my Armored Scout thought a while back.. fill the body
cavities with Kevlar, replace the glass with bullet proof, and make sure you
have the AUTOMATIC hubs (so you don't need to get out and lock 'em in before
4x4ing over the mass of crazed gun-toting Scout-hating gang members that
just emptied their sub-guns into your kevlar lined panels)
Can you tell it's almost Christmas? Everyone's so loving and kind to each
other.. not a malicious thought in their heads.. ;-)
-Tom Mandera, Helena MT - Ted's from just up the road, and those Free guys
were a short drive east.. (ok, 500 miles)
