Denni's rear brakes

Denni,
A lot of times, you have to heat the drum right near the hub to get it
off. I think all four wheel drum guys know what thats about.;) Its not
pressed on, its just rusted, or the brakes are to tight. You can try to
back off the adjuster screw to gain more clearance, but my guess would be
more on the rusted hub scenario. Drums shouldn't be too hard to find, and
I would think $75 is way too much. Check the junkyards near your house,
sometimes you can get a nice set off an oldie that just needs to be
machined. Cripes, I'd think for 75 beans, you could get a hole used rear
axle! Anyway, Once you get 'em off, my suggestion would be to get a new
hardware kit as well as new brake shoes, its worth the $15-20 extra. You
might also want to file or grind out the hub circle of the drum for a
little extra clearance with a dremmel or something. As far as rear disc
conversion goes, Jim Weed's web page at www.off-road.com/~jweed/index.html
has good info on it. I think there's some stuff on the FAQ also, check it
out.
Good luck!
I'm sure tons of people have info on this subject.
