Fwd: Air Filter Housing Help

Forwarding message received in answer to my request for help. Thanks to all
who replied. Went with the 10x2 for now, but don't really like it. Seems
too small for all that engine. May try something else later. Thanks again.

I ended up converting the water pump and water outlet to a 1980-style,
which is much lower and less obtrusive. (The outlet fitting itself is
smaller, and the heater hose fitting cmes out of the water pump, thereby
eliminating the 2" spacer below the old-style water outlet.) It makes the
top radiator hose a bit hard to find (different in 1980 from all other
years), but Giddum Up Scout came to the rescue there. I am now able to run
a 14x3 K&N unit with a dropped base. The filter base actually hangs down
around the TBI (or in your case carb) about an inch, eliminating any hood
 interference.

Please forward this note to the digest for me, as I am still having some
mail problems. (Earthlink mail servers are apparently a large source of
spam, and Richard has them blocked.)

I had similar problems when I wanted to mount a non-stock air
filter atop
my Holley TBI unit. Originally, I went with a simple 10x2 paper
