A manual choke kit is *really* simple.  All you have the choke cable 
directly connected to the choke butterfly.  All the rest goes in the trash.

Put the choke fully closed to crank and start to open as soon as it 
fires!  It will take some time a a few flooded engines to learn.  You 
want to pull the choke off immediately when it fires.  Once it starts 
just give it enough choke so it doesn't die.  Probably won't need any 
choke above idle. It's an art.  Different with each engine and with the 
weather.
