E39 front end noise

I'm noticing a real consistent 'knocking' sounds whenever either of my
front wheels hit even the smallest bumps, like a bushing has gone bad.
The car only has 45k miles on it but it sounds like the wheels are
going to fall off at times. I did the front brakes last week-end and
tried to see what I could see but that turned up nothing - everything
looks tight. Before I head to the dealer I'd thought I'd check with you
first - thanks for your help.
