E30 problem -solved

I recently posted request for help with intermittent ignition failure, engine 
would cut off suddenly for one to several seconds, then fire up again while 
underway. I received many helpful suggestions, and thank all who responded. 
Several responders suggested faulty main (engine) relay, but Michel Poutheau 
said "it IS your main relay".And it was. No surprise, correct advice from a 
guy whose first BMW was probably a DIXI. Thanks again to all.
