Re: KYB struts - 87 325ic Convertible

Are we talking about the KYB GR-2's?

I just bought some of them for my older grocery getters...the ad blurb
suggests that they are just slightly firmer than OE in most cases.

They are very inexpensive (Tire rack in the US seems to have the best
price) and have a lifetime warranty. I havent had a chance to put them
on, but maybe over the holiday...

I put the Koni Sports on my 540 this year along with a factory sport
springs and bars. The car handles great now, but if you are looking for a
"compliant/luxury" ride, this isnt the way to go. The ride was very
smooth before with the standard suspension, but the struts were shot and
the car felt dangerous to me in high speed corners. Now I get lots of
feedback and a very firm ride (even with the shocks dialed soft) and it's
track-worthy, but it's certainly not for everyone and my wife doesnt care
for it.

I'll stay away from the KYB struts if they result in a harsh ride.
Bilstein
are a bit pricey, so I'll check out Boge.

Has anyone else had experience with less expensive brands?
