518 (318) thermostat???

One of my 1995 518 (E34T) motors is running cool
not a noticeable until the cooler weather arrived.
The heater is a bit tepid.
I have been advised the stat is over 30 UKP
from Euro car parts, as it is a complete module
in the housing on the chain driven cam engine.
Is this the case?
Would it of stuck open when the rad blew
on the previous owner?
Anything to lookout for when swapping?
Should it last more than 218K miles? hoho
