"It needs a tune up" is a classic line used by sellers to gloss over
some serious problem. If all it needed was a tune up, the seller
would have done that already. Also, the "high performance engine"
comment is BS.
It would be worthwhile for you to check Georgia law regarding the
emissions test at a sale. In California the seller is required to
provide this.
Finally, an M6 engine can be *very* expensive to repair. Seriously
consider getting a pre-purchase inspection at an independent BMW
repair shop.
