Consulting the owners manual of my 88 535i...."To change the units of
measure and language, press the AVG MGP button and then press the changeover
contact with the tip of a ball point pen.  Each time the changeover contact
is subsequently pressed, the units of measure and language wil change and
will be shown on the display."
