Henry,
Aside from the Timing Case Profile Gasket going south after around 60k
miles, there is nothing specific to look for on the 318i that wouldn't
also apply to any older car (the usual - bushings, rust, wear and tear,
yadda yadda). Given that your prospective purchase has many more that
60k on the clock, it's likely to have a new TCPG already.
