Yes your're right.
A regular LED needs a resistor in serie to limit current. Usually, 20mA is
the maximum allowable, 15 mA for a longer lifespan.
I didn't mention the resistor LED in my reply because I was sure he wanted
to use a flashing LED like the ones sold at Radio Shack. These flashing
LEDs have the resistor and flashing circuit already incorporated in them.
But when I re read the post, I saw no mention about "flashing". Oups.
