re: HID conversion/ insulating electrical connectors:
In the referred website article, an emphasis is made on heavy wraps
of electrical tape to insulate the wiring.
To obtain a professionally looking installation, I suggest instead using
Shrink Tube. That is a common item in electronics used on wiring
harnesses. This is slid on the wires and then heated with a blow dryer
to shrink to half its diameter.
This is the correct and permanent to both protect a connection
against water and to insulate it more heavily than vinyl tape will.
Shrink tube is available in many colors and helps avoid the garage
mechanic look given by a wad of vinyl tape. Also Vinyl tape can soften,
shrink, and unravel gradually over time due to high heat the lights
generate. You can coat silicon rubber (Permatex gray or black) along a
run of wire particularly prone to sparking, then shrink tube over.
Silicon is also great on other problematic connections such as
intermittent turn signal connections to make a water tight secure
connection.
