Those darned "blue lights"

We've just arranged to pick up a new 325iT in Munich. I wanted the xenon
headlights, especially since we live where there are lots of unlighted
country roads, deer and rain, and this time of year its dark until about 8 in
the morning and after about 4 in the afternoon.
My wife was absolutely appalled, saying those darned "blue lights" are
offensive and aggressive and morally reprehensible -- just this side of
buying an SUV. I told her that she's probably been put off by crummy
aftermarket blue lensed halogens, not self-leveling HID xenons like the ones
on new BMWs. I went ahead and ordered the xenon option, hoping she won't
shoot me, or refuse to drive the car, which is supposed to be for her and the
kid(s). I want my M3 back!
More than one person has told me these new xenon lights are GREAT for the
driver and do not blind oncoming drivers. What's the consensus? We haven't
actually had a chance to try them.
