Speaker Install

Hiya,
I'm looking at getting a new set of speakers for my car.. I've been
recommended a pair of 6x9s in the back and some 6 inch splits for the
front.
Has anyone had experience with installing these in an E30? Will I have
to cut into the metal to install them in the back?
Links to pages describing installations would be quite useful.
