Hi all,
Just got an SS exhaust for my e36conv and got it installed by a local
mechanic and the exhaust is slightly rubbing against the wheels. I installed
it and started smelling rubber so I checked it out and the exhaust was
touching the tire. Mind you, I have 255 35 18's in the rear but I never
thought that would be the problem.
So I played around and adjusted the hinges for the exhaust from the back and
moved it just slightly and it's now about 5mm away from the tire ( I cant
seem to move it further to the right). You can tell its' moved because the
tips are not centered out of the bumper cutout. So I put some tape on the
part that was rubbing, drove it a bit and checked it out...burned a nice
hole right through the tape where it made contact with the tire....so it's
still touching...I even took a hammer and tried to dent it in but the damn
metal is so strong and so it didn't budge much.
Any advice besides taking it to a muffler shop?
Regards
