I don't know anything about the fuse, but with the right equipment, it
is a quick job to set the distance to anything you want. On the E36
3er, the distance is only saved in the cluster which makes the
manipulation easy to hide. On the E39 5er, and I presume later models, a
copy is stored elsewhere, and a tamper dot appears if someone forgets
to change both copies.
