I think it's been a little over 2 weeks ago(I didn't
think I'd need to pay close attention)that I posted a
question about needing front wheel bearings or a hub
for my 1990 535i. Thanks for the responses. However,
I also got a direct email response from a Rusty
Cullen, associated with Rustyparts, located somewhere
in the Southeast. Rusty offered the best price on a
hub, and promised immediate shipment. I paid by
credit card, and awaited the part (claimed to be about
3 days). After a little over a week (again, if I
remember correctly) I called because the part had not
arrived, and asked for a tracking number.
After apparently looking for info, Rusty initially
said that he had no information on the order, then
said that he had found the order, and that it ws never
sent. He promised to ship it out "right away".
After another week or so (this past Friday), still not
having received any hub from Rusty, I called again to
inquire on a trackingnumber for the part. This time,
Rusty said that his tracking software had crashed, and
that he was on the phone with UPS trying to get things
resolved, but he'd call me back.
Waiting until this Monday morning, I called Rusty
again, asking for the tracking number. This time,
Rusty told me that his shipping facility in Chicago
had not gotten back to him with the shipping number
(never said anything about UPS and HIS shipping
software), but that Rusty would call them and call me
"right back".
I called Rusty towards the end of Monday, and again
inquired, only to be told that the shipping facility
had not called him back, but he'd check right into it
and call me back.
Not having heard anything by this morning (Tuesday), I
called Rusty again about 9 a.m., and asked for an
update, only to be told that the shipping facility had
not called him back. I explained the above to Rusty,
and asked him to expedite this thing. Rusty promised
to call the shipper and...he promised to call me
"right back".
I again waited, this time until just before noon, and
called Rusty again, only to be told that his shipper
had not called him back. I emphasized that my car had
been out of service for over two weeks, and that I had
guests coming in town the end of next week, and that I
really needed to get the part so I could get the car
in service again. Once more, Rusty promised to
contact them and to call me "right back". I
emphasized my situation again, and asked Rusty to call
me before 2 p.m. today.
Well, I just called Rusty again at 7:15 p.m. EDT,
explained the entire scenario above and told him that
a great price is only a good deal if one can actually
buy the part, and that I was truly discouraged with
Rustyparts service and Rusty Cullen's lack of
response.
I told Rusty that, since he is on the list and used
the list to solicit business, that it was only
appropriate to inform the list of the situation, which
I now have done.
Lastly, I told Rusty that I fully expect a phone call
from him first thing tomorrow, to resolve this
issue...I'll keep the list informed.
