E34 electronic question

Hello all, 
I have a 92 525iT and I have a strange problem.  when the key is turned
past accessory to "on," the warning display says that my washer resevoir
is low, the brake sensors need to be checked, and the owner's manual
needs to be checked.  The "check" computer seems to work except for the
"code" function.  I can input a code, turn the car off, and then start
the car without entering the code.  One last oddity, the  oil service
light will not reset.  The car funs fine and I am not sure if there might
simply be a glitch in one of the circuit boards or maybe an easier fix. 
The washer fluid is full, and I don't know what the owner's manual has to
do with anything.
