Bentley and Haynes together??

After many frustrations over the Haynes manual, that is not complete
enough, I bought a Bentley.
What a difference! A lot more coverage, and more details.

One thing I remarked though, is that I find in the Bentley, many
illustrations, pictures, and even texts (full paragraphs) that are
IDENTICAL to the Haynes.
Is there an agreement between these publishers to exchange stuff? I don't
think one is steeling stuff from the other one, so what's the answer?

Also, in the Bentley, they often say, "as per BMW procedure". Where do
they get these procedure? I thought BMW stuff was proprietary.

I find it hard to understand why BMW don't release technical manuals for
their cars. It won't kill them. I have a service manual for every car, I
previously owned. As far as I know, Toyota are still in business, same
thing for Chrysler even if they sell service manuals for they products.

May be they like the motto: It's a BMW thing... You wouldn't
understand.
