I have an 87 325es that is failing emmissions in Georgia. It has 255,000 miles and runs nicely. I believe that the muffler is bad do to the loud sound it makes while driving. So loud, I have to turn the card off when at the drive thru at McDonald's. I'm afraid that the cat could be bad but not sure. Will a bad muffler cause emmissions failure.
