ECU reprogramming

Hi there from Down Under!

I own a 318i E46 and I'm interested in improving the performance by
upgrading the ECU software.  I understand this is a relatively
straightforward process and doesn't require a chip replacement.

Does anyone know where I can find a copy of the software for re-programming
the ECU?  I would appreciate any advice/experience with this process.
