New 2001 E46 318i Parent needs teething advice

Hi all

I used to contribute (mainly listen...) to this group from Australia about 4
years ago (had an E36 318i), and now that my new November 2000-built E46
318i sedan with steptronic in Titanium Silver/Anthracite sits shining in my
garage with about 500 kms on the speedo, I thought I should look up the list
which I enjoyed filling up my Inbox so much all those years ago!

Phew! Without further ado, a question for anyone that has the time, thanks
in advance.

I have a Nokia 6210 GSM digital phone (it fits the old 6110 car kit, the
CARK-91, which I would like to install...) and my 2001 318i (as my dealer
calls it) has a black shark-fin antenna on the rear window and an integrated
microphone next to the sunroof switch.

My question is: is it true that the car is pre-wired with Nokia phones in
mind, and that the wiring loom I found under the pop-up storage console (in
front of the gear stick) will allow for (get this) - muting of the Business
CD, and the listing of phone numbers on it's display! That would be on the
extremely frigid side of cool, IMO.

Also, any ideas for a stereo upgrade on the Business CD/speaker package. I
am certain that it sounds better than a buddies' 1998 E46 sedan Business
CD/speaker package. I think I might just try the official BMW sound module
rather than the ADS/MD Quart options mentioned in other sites, but it
doesn't seem to be offered in Australia. Only the HK option when ordering,
apparently.

Anyway, thanks for listening. I'm sure my questions will run to K&N and
Dinan and the like with time, but in the mean time, I gotta take phone
calls... ;)
