98 M3 Audio Choices

Hi All,
After a couple of false starts, I have acquired a '98 M3. The first attempt
was a 1995 M3 'BMW certified pre-owned' that I found had been in a collision
and was not properly repaired, the second was a '97 M3 from iMotors (thought
it was worth a try!) - rust damage in the battery copartment and spare tire
well due to collision/battery trauma.
I was told that the sound systems in these cars aren't very good, and that
appears to be true to my ears. I have the standard cassette/AM/FM unit.
Anyone have opinions on current after market options vs. staying stock and
adding a BMW CD changer? Will I encounter any warranty hassles if the
aftermarket equipment is properly installed?
I'm in Aliso Viejo, CA - if you have any recommendations on shops/installers
please let me know.
Thanks,
Lee
