Stuart Buckland - Electrical/engine performance

Unlike Stuart, on my E28 (1985 535i), I had an electrical problem 
recently that was causing the engine to stumble.  Sometimes it 
was minor - sometimes it was almost a complete shut down.

I popped open the hood one morning while the car was running, 
and I wiggled and jiggled everything electrical in sight!

I don't know what cured it, but the car has run fine since!
