Apparently Crutchfield has harness adaptors to make an install easy, I 
belive they have a website.  You don't need one though, it's pretty easy to 
wire without - I didn't use one.

As for the metal sleeve thing, that's a DIN mount and pretty common.  With 
my Alpine, it's possible to compress two little tabs and pull the entire 
thing out of the sleeve with no trouble.  Then once the unit's out, it's 
possible to unbend the tabs and remove the sleeve should it become 
necessary.  I doubt that your Kenwood locks into the sleeve without some 
way to remove it.
