Andy,
My favorite combination is Bosch wiper blades, and STP Vision Blade
treatment on the glass.  Oh and periodically wipe off the blade with a
cloth or sponge, especially if you go through those darn car washes
where the wash water is always laced with cheezy wax even if you don't
want it.  Won't help with the overlap position, but you will be able to
see better.
