Ron pretty much took the words right out of mouth (fingers?) <grin>.

I, too, ran at the track on street tires for a couple of years (one year in
the previous 328is and about one year with the M3). And my current R-tire
of choice is also the RA-1, pretty much for the same reasons Ron cited.
Most of the time I'll put the track tires on at home, drive to the track
(furthest are Laguna & Thunderhill, 250-mile RT), run all weekend, and
drive home.
