Gas Mileage

My 330Ci says it has a 16.6 gallon gas tank, however when the fuel 
light came on today, I'd only gone 280 miles on that tank of gas. 
Taking into account the 2 gallons remaining when the fuel light comes 
on, that's only about 20 miles to the gallon. Is this what I should 
expect to get, or is it because the car is still new? I only have 
2,200 miles on it so far.
